Tricia's work has always included a strong emphasis on photojournalism and documentary. She has been commissioned as archive photographer for some projects and in others has developed a project from her own ideas and later exhibited or published the results. In several documentaries she has brought a new perspective to subjects that have already had a great deal of photgraphic coverage: her photographs seek out the human meanings and human landscapes in studies of topics such as inner-city life, that have too often been reduced to statistics and stock images.
