Tricia Porter - Portraits

Tricia's portrait subjects include people who are in the public eye and those who live far from the limelight. In both cases she avoids the stereotypes that photographers often create and looks for the unique humanness and identity of the subject. Her early studies of children in inner-city Liverpool in Some Liverpool Kids were taken in an area that had already been done to death by sociologists and reporters, and much of the project was spent in breaking down walls of impersonality that had grown up. Tricia also undertakes portrait commissions of individuals and groups, and her work has appeared in books, newspapers and magazines and public and private collections.
