The Porterfolios |
'The Porterfolios' is the title of a series of illustrated books heavily illustrated by Tricia Porter and written, designed and typeset by David Porter. The first Porterfolio is Over the Bent World: Twenty-Four Poems by Gerard Manley Hopkins, published by Solway in 1989 and shortly to be re-issued under a new imprint. The book sets Hopkins' poems in the context of his life and times, and contains a wealth of illustrations and information as well as detailed notes on each poem. Over the Bent World is a black-and-white publication, but future volumes in the series will feature colour photography. Subjects for future volumes include Dorothy L Sayers and G K Chesterton, though we are exploring the possibilities of featuring other art forms such as jazz.
A book ideal for browsing and also an appropriate gift for students, this volume will be available at a new low price by the autumn - ideal timing for Christmas! |

'The combination of poetry, biographical commentary an photographic illustrations genuinely illuminates the poems and returns us to them with an appetite for more' (Roger Wagner) |
